All About Five Alive Films

Gerald Jackson, Jr., creator Five Alive Films, works hard to ensure that his productions are always on the cutting edge. Created in 2000, Five Alive Films delivers artistic music videos, phenomenal book trailers, and fantastic film shorts.

DOCUMENTARIES

For example, “Chasing Kevin: The Hunt For a Picture With Kevin Smith," the first project released under Five Alive Films, proved to be a huge success when it premiered on the campus of New York City's Columbia University. This comical documentary followed a young man's quest for a picture with the famous independent film director, Kevin Smith.

MUSIC VIDEOS

In 2005, Five Alive Films ventured into music video territory. Tracy Shedd, a very popular band from Jacksonville, Florida, used the single "Jumping Waves" from their most recent album. The project proved to be nothing short of exciting. The production included animals, children, as well as vintage cars. The video created major buzz in the Jacksonville area, only assisting in the success of the band's following tour.

Five Alive Films' second music video, shot in the spring of 2007, also proved to be a venture. Rob Mercer, a Washington, D.C. based jazz artist, agreed to collaborate with Five Alive Films to produce his first video project. The song "A Brother's Worship," was the first song released from his new album. This video also did quite well, being shown on numerous national music and television channels.

After witnessing the quality of Five Alive Films' productions, Troy Sneed, one of North Florida's most successful gospel producers, wanted to work with us.  For the song "Work It Out," we used dancers, an audience, and instrumentalists. This project also brought major attention to both Mr. Sneed and Bona Fide Praisers, being shown nationally on gospel networks.

Jacksonville's own band HARLOE approached FIVE ALIVE FILMS to record their first in-store live performance.  Excited about the opportunity, Five Alive Films worked with suburban mall staple HOT TOPIC to film their concert.  In front of a packed crowd, Harloe wowed the audience and FIVE ALIVE FILMS was there to capture it all.  Currently, the band uses the footage for promotions.

In early 2009, Bonafide Praisers reunited with Five Alive Films to create a single for their second single off their hit album.  "Heal the Land" had a distinct urban vibe that could appeal to younger listeners of gospel music.  It was decided that the project would film in a playground with the same dancers from "Work it Out."  Like the first project, the video is expected to make the rotations on national gospel networks.

BOOK TRAILERS

During the spring of 2006, USA Today's Bestselling Author Brenda Jackson worked with Five Alive Films to promote Solid Soul, her most recent romance novel. By working together, both parties tailored the idea of a "book trailer." In the process, Ms. Jackson's clientele would have a vibrant, energetic media to culture interest in the book. After the book was released, the novel went into a second printing, a very rare occurrence in the literary industry.

During the fall of 2007, Brenda Jackson returned to Five Alive Films to producer her second "book trailer" for her fiftieth romance novel, Slow Burn. This production proved to be bigger than the first, as we filmed on a ranch, wrangled large amounts of farm animals, and used large-scale equipment such as cranes and jibs.

In February, 2009, Five Alive Films united with New York Times Bestselling  Author Brenda Jackson for a third time to create the book trailer for her newest novel Tall, Dark, Westmoreland!  Filming in Jacksonville's historic Riverside arts district, the project helped to propel the book up the top of the charts.  Using over thirty extras, the video was an absolute success.
